The City Thinks 2007
The City Thinks is a two week series of events focused on a Springfield Public Forum lecture topic, offered in collaboration with the Springfield City Library with support from the Irene E. and George A. Davis Foundation. The City Thinks programming includes includes book and issue discussion groups, movie screenings and other activities.
The Fall 2007 City Thinks preceded Presidential Medal of Freedom Winner Paul Rusesabagina's Public Forum lecture on October 18th and addressed the issue of genocide in Africa, focusing on Rwanda and Darfur. Mr. Rusesabagina's courageous act of sheltering over 1200 of his fellow Rwandans during the genocide has been portrayed in the movie Hotel Rwanda and his memoir, An Ordinary Man.
